Art Beyond Boundaries: Encouraging Diversity and Inclusivity in Houston’sHouston’s Art Scene

Imagine being tied to one drink for the rest of your life. It does not matter whether that drink is the most delicious in the world; at some point, you are bound to get tired of it. Human beings like flavor. Life without a variety of tastes quickly becomes boring and ceases to be worth living.

Our world is filled with people from different races and nationalities. Although these people may, at some point, identify with a particular culture, there is no culture or identity that appeals to everyone on the globe. Each individual has a unique identity that should be appreciated as it is. It is these unique identities that decorate the world with vibrancy and color.

However, only some appreciate the values of these diversities. Many people today are still trapped in retrogressive ideas of us vs them. Their individualism clouds their hearts and eyes, and it becomes impossible for them to appreciate the beauty around them.

Among the most discriminated groups worldwide are people with mental or physical disability. It is worth noting that in contemporary times, disability is viewed from all angles, including a social one.

Art Beyond Boundaries has for years encouraged people who at one point felt that they do not belong to come out and assert their place in society as people who belong through creative arts. There are numerous ways to encourage people who do not feel they belong to secure their place in society.

However, Art Beyond Boundaries uses art because it is a unique form of therapy for everyone, whether they are physically fit or challenged. Creative art unites people from all walks of life. It allows them to explore great minds and experience deep feelings and thought processes through self-discovery and awe-striking art pieces.

One such artist is Jeremy Sicile-Kira, who was initially viewed as an autistic weirdo with no ability to communicate verbally. But today, Jeremy is one of the most talented artists in the world. He can appreciate diversity by identifying and expressing the emotions of each person he interacts with. He uses the colors of emotions to create breathtaking art pieces that represent the impression people leave in his mind after intermingling with him.

Another great example is Sanchita Islam. Anyone who once thought that Sanchita had turned into a hopeless schizophrenic individual with little or no prospects in life after developing postpartum psychosis would be shocked by her ability to draw fantastic art pieces today. Sanchit is also an established author whose book has made tremendous contributions to mental health issues associated with motherhood.

Many examples of people who once considered themselves misfits have become great societal role models today. Most indifferent ”normal” people fail to grasp that art and identity are two sides of the same coin. People and organizations like Art Beyond Boundaries help these individuals to reconnect with their identities and help them soar to heights they never thought they would.
